The brand of ex-NBA player Al Harrington, named after his grandmother Viola, was formed as a result of Harrington realizing how much people could benefit from cannabis as a medicine. Harrison was playing for the Denver Nuggets around 2010 to 2012. During his time in Colorado, after doing a fair amount of reading and research, and after seeing his grandmother dealing with a myriad of medications to deal with glaucoma, diabetes, and other ailments, Harrington suggested she give medical marijuana a try. While she had her reservations about the medical benefits of “reefer” according to Harrington, eventually she gave in and decided to give cannabis a shot. After his grandmother had found a remarkable level of relief through cannabis, Al Harrington then formed Viola Brands to further participate in propagating the positive medical benefits to be hand from the plant throughout Colorado, and the United States as a whole.
